Has anyone addressed how to negate the pesticides that are in the containers before using them as building material?

I did not find anything on this in the search so hopefully I didn't miss a string somewhere.

Thank you for your help.

There are preservatives in the wood floor, although I'm not sure that they are pesticides. There may be spraying of pesticides upon packing to prevent pests from being transferred, and some of that could perhaps absorb into the wood floor. But the rest of the box is steel and can simply be washed.

What is your concern? What is your understanding of pesticides in the containers? You should be more specific and explain what you are asking. The way you posed your question makes it sound like "sure, everybody understands that there is pesticides in containers" where we really have no idea what you are talking about.

When we received our containers and opened them we were overwelmed with the smell of chemicals.  It smells like pesticides.  We have been using our containers for storage over the past couple of years.  The smell is still there.  My concern is that there is something hazardous in the containers that we are going to use to build with.  I wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem and how they addressed it.  Thank you for your help.

Found the answer on another site.  Pesticides are sprayed on the wood floors.  Methyl Bromide to be exact.  You can either take out the wood floor or clean and seal them.  Just thought someone might like to know.

Good work!

I'm not sure that this treatment is universal. I've not heard of it before.

I do not recommend to use the container floor as final inside floor for domestic purposes. Not only does not have isolation but as mentioned here can contain pesticide treatment to keep bugs out of them -as, on the other side, many materials have...-. Not to always stepping on!
